Girls Camp 2012 {flaming gorge} Day 4

Today we packed up camp and headed home!  I was so excited to get home and see Will and Emmie and sleep in my nice cozy bed snuggled up to my cute hubby!  Camp was fun but I am so happy to be home.  Now onto preparing my talk for Sacrament meeting Sunday..................

Girls Camp 2012 {flaming gorge} Day 3

Today we were all excited to just spend some time around camp.  The girls headed out on a morning hike lead by our bishopric and the leaders stayed back and set up a spa for when they got back.  They LOVED it!  It was such a great reward since it was super hot on the hike!

Next we split up into groups and the leaders taught workshops based off of our camp theme Believe, Obey and Endure.  Kim and I taught Believing in the Scriptures and our workshop ended up pretty good.  We sent the girls on a scavenger hunt using the scriptures to tell them which way to go.  We blindfolded one girl just to make it interesting and it ended up so challenging.

The pirate treasure!

It was funny because only a few girls ended up close to where the treasure was but luckily we were able to tie it into our lesson.  We finished up with a craft and made really cute bottle cap necklaces with our camp theme on them.

Tish and Sandy tied everything together perfectly with their SOS lesson and we all were dying at the beginning with their awesome dance!

We had some free time so a bunch of us decided to go cliff jumping again!

Sarah, Allyson, & Katelin

We had a lot of fun today just hanging out playing games and being silly.  I learned a whole bunch of camp traditions which was great since I only went twice as a YW.  We ended the evening with Testimony Meeting and it was very eye opening.  A lot of the girls shared very personal stuff that definitely clued me in to what these girls are really struggling with.  It was interesting.

I forgot to mention that we are surrounded by young men camps so of course tonight we had to prank them.  The leaders all joined in to "keep our girls safe" but we all had a blast!  Just as me and Allie were almost up to one of the boys tents they scared us and I ended up taking a dive in the fire pit, OUCH!!!  Thank goodness they hadn't had a fire or I would have had a lot more than just some pretty bad bruises!

We stayed up late around the camp fire listening to the amazingly talented Alapa sisters.  They are amazing and it was the perfect ending to our camp and night.

Girls Camp 2012 {flaming gorge} Day 2

We woke up bright and early today and got things ready for our fun day of rafting on the Green River.  We packed up the lunch stuff and picked up the rafts and everyone was so excited!

Swim time!

After we did the first 7 miles we pulled out and had lunch.  It was super hot and everyone was pretty tired and beat but we loaded up again and did the same 7 mile stretch again.  I was honestly not to happy about it since I had rowed pretty  much the entire first 7 miles and new I was in for another long and hard 7 miles especially since we had to go even faster so we could get the boats back in time.  But I tried to put on my happy face ;)!

Squished in the truck

My second boat (and best attempt at looking happy)!

At least the Green River was gorgeous!

Sandy, Nichole, Kimberlee, Kim, & Me (rowing......)
Finally we made it off the river and I was seriously so tired and grumpy!  At least my friend Kim helped pull me out of my funk the last half of the river so I could be a little bit happier.  Its funny because I don't get mean I just get ultra quiet and so Kim was the only one who noticed thank goodness!  But regardless the experience was so much fun for the girls!

Back at camp!  BFF's Lyndsee & Kirsten

Our amazing view at camp
Today was pretty much exhausting but it was still a lot of fun!  The girls stayed up and did their snipe hunt and a few games but I was beat so I headed to bed!

Girls Camp 2012 {flaming gorge} Day 1

I have been so excited for girls camp this year since last year I had to miss it since Emmie was just a few weeks old.  This year was Ward Camp so we headed to Flaming Gorge with our girls and set out for a fun week!

Setting up tents was a challenge:

Seriously our view is gorgeous!

Tish, Heather, and Lori

Our camp theme this year was pirates and our camp directors Jessica and Janet had a blast at the camp kickoff!

After we got the girls sorted into their tents we headed to the lake to "walk the plank" aka cliff jump and swim.  It was so hot so we were all very excited to get into the water!

I think most of the girls, leaders, and bishopric were shocked I just went for it and wasn't scared at all.  Thanks to all the Lake Powell jumps I have done with Mike I knew I just had to go for it :).  It was so much fun!

Our fabulous YW President Tish is very afraid of heights and was so scared to make the jump.  She was shaking so bad and even crying at one point as I tried to talk her through doing it.

She is such a rock star though and finally did it!  All the girls were so excited and screamed like crazy!

Tish was pretty ecstatic too!

We have such a great group of girls and there are so many girls that it just makes things so much fun!

Everyone gathered for FHE
For our FHE activity we did the iron rod object lesson and even though the girls have done it before everyone still had such a great spiritual experience.  I loved watched the girls go through my section and seeing how they approached it and handled themselves.  Some girls had no fear and just went for it while others were very timid and waited for the little promptings to help them.  But the best part by far was at the end when our YW president Tish welcomed each girl with a huge hug!

Such a great ending to a great first day of camp!

Keeping a Personal Record

I taught the cute little Beehives today and my lesson was on the importance of record keeping and I have been looking forward to this lesson forever!  When I was looking over my lessons this year I was so excited to teach this one.  However the closer it got to the lesson the more frustrated I got about it!  I have struggled so much keeping a journal since sweet little Emmie joined our lives and I cant even begin to express how depressed I am about it.  I know I have forgotten so much and there is so much I will miss as I go back and try to catch up.  The more I have thought about how far behind I am the more I lose motivation to even try to work on it.  I am so unbelievably grateful for my called and my opportunity to teach my lesson today!  I have a new found outlook on my blog and I am even more determined to keep it current and keep working on this past year and try to catch up what I can.  We have had such an amazing and wonderful year and I cant wait to look back and blog about what I do remember ;).  But regardless of behing behind I am taking the challenge I gave my girls and will make it a priority to work on my blog/journal.  If by some odd chance anyone still checks my blog the more comments you write the better as I start out again to help keep me motivated!  Here is to the new and determined approach to staying on top of my blog :)

NEON Party

I hosted a Neon Birthday party for my cute beehive Beverly and it was simple and fun.  Will loved the stash choices!

Such a fun party!
