Yesterday Mike surprised me with my over due birthday present and it couldn't have been anymore perfect! He told me we had been invited to an event by the WCF and then he "arranged" babysitters and everything for the overnight trip to Park City. Well little did I know it was all a complete lie and instead of a business event sneaky Mike surprised me with my late birthday present, a night stay at The Grand America! Mike also let me know it was "me" time so I would be able to do something I have been wanting to do for months, work on catching up the blog! Okay best gift ever! So Mike showed me to my suite (yes I said suite!) where I then got delivered a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and then told me he would leave so I could get blogging. I was not ready for him to leave so I convinced him to stay for a while. We checked out the hotel and its amazing toy store and sweet shop and I was in love with how cute they both were.
We then walked over to City Creek and did a little shopping (yay for Lush bath bombs!) and ate dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. It was seriously like the perfect evening alone together! Mike walked me back and then headed home to take care of Emmie while Will had a sleepover at Gammy Stacy's. I was so excited to work on my blog and so I gathered my necessities and got to work!
I stayed up until 2am and managed to blog 50+ new posts! Whoot wooo!! It felt so great to get that much done. It was a little weird to be entirely alone but I am not going to lie it was so nice not having any distractions. No kids climbing out of bed, no laundry needing folding, and no hubby wandering in and out asking what I was doing. It was fabulous! I took an extra long bath with my bath bomb and then slept better than I have in a long long time :).
In the morning I did my best to sleep in (despite Mike calling around 8am and just waking up on my own) and then I ordered some delicious room service. Definitely the best way to start the day out!
I admired the overcast rainy view while I posted a few more posts
And then Mike came and picked me up.
It was absolutely the best gift I have ever received and I can express how much I needed some "me" time. It sounds so selfish but I desperately needed a little break and I feel so recharged and grounded again. I was able to reestablish who I was minus kids, husband, demands of life and I feel like I am a better person for remembering that part of me ;). Thank you Mike!!!
