Heroes

Sometimes, when tucking my little man in bed I find the most wonderful things!  I hope one day, maybe twenty years from now, he'll look back on times together playing with fondness.  I sure hope so!

The harder way to do church...

Today Emmie had a little harder time in church.  Nothing seemed to go quite right, but sure enough; after enough time she was excited to get into class!

Riding to the gym

Kids finally convinced me to let them both ride with me to the gym.  We were dancing in the car, blaring music loud, having an awesome time!  After a few minutes I finally decided to snap a few pictures of them from the rear view mirror, and they were hilarious...

And then we finally got a serious smile!

Go Will!!!!

Emmie loves cheering for Will at his baseball games!

Playing at Station Park

Today Jamie had her birthday date with Aunt Whitni, so I met up with the kids at Station Park after going to the gym.  They were hilarious!  We went to the candy store first, because, well, that's just what you do!  Then we were off to the playground.  Due to the fact it was 10:30, the place was nearly empty.

At first the kids loved it.... But then they realized its a lot more fun with more people playing.  So we checked out the awesome water fountain!  Kids loved it!!

Fathers and Sons

This weekend was fathers and sons for our ward.  Our campground was by Lost Creek reservoir up Weber Canyon.  This would be both Will and Also my first fathers and sons trip!  Kind of fun!

Will fell asleep on the drive up even though he tried his hardest to stay with it!  He just kept staring at the road and saying nothing as he got more and more tired!

We stayed nice and warm in our tent, and because we woke up early (to go pee), we decided to eat our leftover crackers, marshmallows and cookies in bed as we joke about silly things that six year olds say.

Will spent the morning by the fire with some friends doing what boys do; pike the fire all morning long!

View from the camp was pretty amazing as will and I went for a hike with some newfound buddies.

The day ended by running through all the "secret passages" that are so convenient for a kid but utterly painful for an adult to navigate!  Lots of fun though!  We ended with a skipping rocks across te stream before heading home.  Will had the fun time of a rock skipped off of his head as well! :)  Good times all around nonetheless!

Bike Ride and Donut Faces!

One of the things I love about our neighborhood is the 7-11 nearby.  Will absolutely loves riding bikes there in the summer to get donuts, and this morning was no exception!

Will was gracious enough to let the ladies join us this time.  Emmie was so protective and possessive of "my mommy!!"

Will, at the loss of maple bars in the donut stand, went for a tasty fritter!

Emmie started with a standard glazed donut but opted for mommy's m&m cookie... Or rather the m&ms off of moms cookies.  She went in to vacuum mode when we said we had to go. 😄

Only way to do church

There is really only one way to do church in my opinion; on the grass outside!  Emmie agreed today and we had an epic time playing in the grass.  She made me tea out of the leaves and we giggled in the grass.  I guess some people talked about churchy stuff inside... I don't know; I was too busy enjoying one of my life's greatest blessings!

{My Suite 29}

Yesterday Mike surprised me with my over due birthday present and it couldn't have been anymore perfect!  He told me we had been invited to an event by the WCF and then he "arranged" babysitters and everything for the overnight trip to Park City.  Well little did I know it was all a complete lie and instead of a business event sneaky Mike surprised me with my late birthday present, a night stay at The Grand America!  Mike also let me know it was "me" time so I would be able to do something I have been wanting to do for months, work on catching up the blog!  Okay best gift ever!  So Mike showed me to my suite (yes I said suite!) where I then got delivered a gorgeous bouquet of flowers and then told me he would leave so I could get blogging.  I was not ready for him to leave so I convinced him to stay for a while.  We checked out the hotel and its amazing toy store and sweet shop and I was in love with how cute they both were.

We then walked over to City Creek and did a little shopping (yay for Lush bath bombs!) and ate dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.  It was seriously like the perfect evening alone together!  Mike walked me back and then headed home to take care of Emmie while Will had a sleepover at Gammy Stacy's.  I was so excited to work on my blog and so I gathered my necessities and got to work!

I stayed up until 2am and managed to blog 50+ new posts!  Whoot wooo!!  It felt so great to get that much done.  It was a little weird to be entirely alone but I am not going to lie it was so nice not having any distractions.  No kids climbing out of bed, no laundry needing folding, and no hubby wandering in and out asking what I was doing.  It was fabulous!  I took an extra long bath with my bath bomb and then slept better than I have in a long long time :).

In the morning I did my best to sleep in (despite Mike calling around 8am and just waking up on my own) and then I ordered some delicious room service.   Definitely the best way to start the day out!

I admired the overcast rainy view while I posted a few more posts
And then Mike came and picked me up.

It was absolutely the best gift I have ever received and I can express how much I needed some "me" time.  It sounds so selfish but I desperately needed a little break and I feel so recharged and grounded again.  I was able to reestablish who I was minus kids, husband, demands of life and I feel like I am a better person for remembering that part of me ;).  Thank you Mike!!!
